Dry Plastering Licence Queensland

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission regulates the construction industry in the state, and issues dry plastering licences. The state of Queensland restricts dry plastering to plastering drywall and the construction and installation of non-loading fire-rating ceilings and walls, and non-load bearing partition wall- and ceiling frames, as well as damp-proofing and waterproofing plasterboard walls.

Requirements

You must meet the following requirements in order to obtain a dry plastering licence:

  • Proof of identity
  • Drywall plastering apprenticeship
  • Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining CPC31211 or an equivalent course, approved by the QBCC
  • Certificate of recognition as a qualified drywall plasterer
  • Qualification or Statement of Attainment of the required competencies
  • BSBSMB401 – Legal and Risk Management Requirements of Small Business

On completion of the requirements, you must lodge your application in person at your nearest QBCC office, or mail it to GPO Box 5099, Brisbane QLD 4001. The process takes approximately 6-8 weeks, and on approval, you will be informed by mail and you will receive your licence number.
